SP3 Feedback needs edit

I have received feedback for my SP3 module submission. I am disappointed with the mark I received, but I am keen to take the feedback on board and improve my practice during SP4- realisation. I have realised and understood that my ideas may not have been communicated well enough and there wasn't enough relevant artist research.

Feedback: 'Some of these paintings do not convince as finished works, It's unclear whether the decision not to complete them is a conscious choice, or whether it's indecision on your part. Are the faces deliberately left unfinished: no eyes, top of the head/hair ears?'

I should have communicated that it was deliberate for the faces to be left unfinished, every time I completed a portrait I found the eyes to be too distracting and dominating the painting as I did not want any of the paintings to communicate from the expression of the eyes, so i decided to either leave them out or have the eyes closed- closing the eyes was also to add to the idea of the figure fantasising about being somewhere else. As for other parts such as the hair top of the head, and ears, when I am painting I will paint what interests me most about the figure which is usually what I end up with, I have always found myself painting parts of a figure rather than the whole of it.

'Think carefully about your choice of recycled  unprimed board always the best choice?- is it a concious choice? why are these paintings not on canvas for example?'

I need to explain why I have chosen a certain type of material to work with. During SP3 I was still in the process of experimenting so I was going between hardboard and paper.
